Being born by the sea is being born very well. Our sea is rich in adventure stories and imagination.Galician Rías Baixas were born from Mother Nature’s hand resting upon the Earth, therefore, people from this land are dreamers and look mysterious.Delio Sánchez is like that. Since he was a little boy, he wanted to reflect the lush nature of the sea in his writings and canvases, as well as the peace of the stone streets in his Medieval Village, Noia. Never did he abandon the fondness to absorb the beauty of his land, the blue and grey of its skies, the steel of the rough sea or the emerald of its white beaches which filled him with creative passion.Delio, a self-admitted jazz fan, paints while playing not only soft melodies from the club or its inside with sleep-deprived musicians but also resounding and impulsive expressionist works with primary colors which rub up in a primitive chaos. He is inspired both by nature and the man absorbed in it; by the man’s and the lavish sea’s music. He is also inspired by passion, by simple rustic things and also by New York, the global city, where he can find all the above-mentioned things in the same setting. A place where he travels when his body and soul ask for it.Nothing can escape from his paint brush or the modeling of his sculptures which, pulled up from the earth, give life to worldly forms dressed in rusty iron and granitic stones. He absorbs and transforms everything so that someone else can enjoy it in his works.
